Probably the best Deadpool stories here. Deadpool stories aren't like the other marvel comics, you don't have bleak stories, nobody important dies really (even though regular civilians are often killed, without caring about, which is very unlike the other marvel comics). On the other hand, the whole marvel mythologie doesn't go forward, there aren't real big events that will affect the x-men, x-factor etc... but he meets a lot of them, the part where he has to steal hulk's blood to survive is pretty hilarious. Secondary characters are great too, like Weasel or Al. Drawings are sometimes really nice, sometimes too smooth and cartoon-like, but it's not really disturbing. You'll read here and then that Deadpool is insane and violent. Well he is, but even though he has a torture chamber in his house, the whole plot is about seeking Deadpool human side. You'll learn about his past, his cancer, the weapon-x project, and you'll see him meet Daredevil in some great and funny fights. Deadpool classic is a must-have, only because it's not like written like the other marvel comics.

Deadpool Classic Vol. 2 collects issues #2-#8 of the first ongoing series of Deadpool from 1997, and the Deadpool/Daredevil 97 Annual. First off, the stories are GREAT. If you're more familiar with the current Daniel Way ongoing series then you are in for a bit of a shock, as Joe Kelly's run is much less reliant on silly humour and is much darker, fleshing Deadpool out much more as a character. There is still the traditional fun and pop culture references, but on the most part this version of Deadpool has much more depth, giving some of the stories a notable impact with the reader (for example the "Don't Call me Hero!" conclusion to issue #8). Joe Kelly's run is generally heralded among Deadpool fans as the character's best (so read it if you haven't!), and Classic vol. 2 also gives a great starting point to a new reader as it establishes much of Deadpool's relationships, outlook, and personality that still continue through to now. The only real negative point I have is the amount of issues in the volume - Classic Vol. 1 contains New Mutants #98, two four-part DP miniseries, and the feature-length Deadpool #1, collecting ten stories. Vol. 2 only collects eight, with the Deadpool/Daredevil 97 being longer than usual, so really another issue or two might have been nice. Otherwise you NEED to familiarise yourself with the Merc With A Mouth, and THIS is the place to start doing so.

It's a really fun graphic novel. Deadpool is a different kind of character then the usual Marvel one's. Art picks up as well. Needed a slightly better ending though. That's why it gets 4 stars. One of my best characters! If your new to Deadpool, this is a great place to start. Heard Volume 1 is not so good. Many have said, it's the best one in the series. Issue with Daredevil is my favourite.
